SUKESH SAHNI (5 September 1956, Lucknow, U.P.), M.Sc (Geology), DIIT (Applied Hydrology) from IIT, Mumbai is well-known as a Laghukatha writer among Hindi literati. He has published several volumes of short stories including Dare Hue Log, Thandi Razai, Cyberman, Pratinidhi Laghukathayen, Magma Aur Anya Kahaniyan and Laghukatha Srijan Aur Rachana-kaushal. Laghukathayen of these collections are also published in Punjabi, Gujrati, Marathi, English, Urdu, Bangla and German languages. He has also edited anthologies of short stories in Hindi. Besides he has brought out translations of short fiction from English to Hindi, which includes writings of Khalil Gibran among others. Many telefilms are produced based on his famous short stories. He has received many awards and honors including Mata Sharbati Devi Puraskar 1996, Madhavrao Sapre samman 2008, Viren Dangwal Smriti Sahitya Samman 2018. He co-edits laghukatha.com devoted to short stories.

Presently, he lives at Bareilly after retirement as Director, Ground Water Department, Uttar Pradesh.
